Singaporeans uses straws for our cold drinks and kopi when its poured into a plastic bag for take away from our local coffee shops, restaurants and eateries. It is quite appropriate to say that our usage of straws are quite excessive. Big food chains like KFC which have approx. 84 outlets in Singapore, Resort World Sentosa and Burger King had taken the lead to discontinue providing straws for their patrons since last year, in 2018. More good news is that some other eateries have also joined in to cut down on single usage plastics (such as straws) by swapping them with metal straws instead or not providing them at all!

A lot of environmental and wildlife advocates. especially marine advocates, recommend using reusable straws or metal straws instead of single-use plastic straws. So there are a variety of reusable straws and metal straws to choose from in the market. Added to our new range of corporate gifts are these sets of environmentally friendly utensils. They are made of stainless steel, which is corrosion-resistant, anti-oxidant, durable, safe and non-toxic. They are easy to clean and can be used repeatedly!

Corporations like Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) had recently engaged us to customised these cutlery sets as their corporate giveaways in January this year.

Why do we use reusable straws?

Here are some reasons for it:-

1)They are reusable, that means it helps you to save money. You do not have to discard it away.

2)This saves you money, as you can recycle and reuse. Buying them in bulk might be even more cost efficient for you too.

3)They are “re-usable”, meaning you can use them again and again, repeatedly! Carry them in a small pouch or tuck it inside your bag and bring them around. After use, you just need to wash the metal straws thoroughly and dry it and pop it back into your bag.

The willingness to care is within us and we need to take this action to help make this planet a better place to live in. It is a matter of how determined we are to take this small step to make this changes. By doing this, we are also setting a good example to those around us in prompting them that each of us can make a difference in this small change in our lifestyle/ habit in protecting our environment.
